We've stepped into the Blog World

Here we are! A word of explanation about the Latin phrase Coram Deo in the title: it simply means "in the presence of God" which is where we live out every day.

One of the "Two Sperows" doesn't know about the blog yet and I suspect she will be as surprised as some of you.

We're spending most of the summer in Knoxville with Lisa, Matt, Charlie, and Sophie (photos to follow). So far we can say it is hot, the kids are cute, Matt is very busy, and Lisa is holding down the fort quite well. We had a wonderful short visit in New Mexico and a little longer visit with the Sperows in West Virginia where a great time was had by all.

The U.S. is the home of instant everything. Anything you want can be custom designed--your t.v. shows, your cell phone, and just about everything else. In a word, people seem overly supplied with "things"--the technical word I guess would be "stuff." Nearly unlimited choices--dozens of stores scattered all over town for groceries, hardware, garden supplies, and whatever else you need--are available, most 24-7. In Germany there is choice, but not nearly so much, and stores are not open as long, and rarely on Sundays. In France most stores close from around 12 to 2 for lunch. Just a very different atmosphere.
